Titans off to rough 0-6 start

Six weeks into the season last year, the Titans were making headlines all over the sports world with their spectacular 6-0 start. One year later, they are making those same headlines, but for a different reason, their disastrous 0-6 start.

In the past three games combined, the Titans have lost by a total of 101 points. Losses including a 37-17 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, a 31-9 loss to the Indianapolis Colts, and the most recent being a 59-0 loss to the New England Patriots.

Despite the bad start to the 2009 season, heading into their Week 7 Bye, head Coach Jeff Fisher recently told reporters "Our football team is moving forward. This is an opportunity for us to start fresh".

9. Nick Saban(35% dislike)

It's no suprise to see Michael Vick atop the list after the dog-fighting allegations he has faced. After being out of the National Football League(NFL) for two seasons, Vick is finally back and ready to re-introduce his reputation on the football field after being conditionally re-instated by commissioner Roger Goodell.

Lee terrific in his Phils debut

Allowing just one run on four hits in his Phillies debut, Cliff Lee went all nine innings while getting the win over San Francisco Giants.

Of all the players in the locker room, Ben Francisco was probably the least dazzled by Lee's performance. It's something Francisco has seen Lee do time and time again during their time in Cleveland.

"That's pretty much vintage Cliff," he said.

Jeff's Trade Deadline Winner: Boston Redsox
Brief--Their most notable trade was that-of-which landed C/1B Victor Martinez from the Cleveland Indians. They needed a jolt in their lineup to get their offense going again and Martinez can do just that which exactly what they wanted, and needed. They also got 1B Casey Kotchman from the Atlanta Braves to add to their deapth.

Jeff's Trade Deadline Loser: Cleveland Indians
Brief--They gave up two proven "stars" such as Cliff Lee, Victor Martinez and also gave up three good role players in Ryan Garko, Ben Francisco, and Rafael Betancourt. Despite giving up all that, they didn't get a single Major Leaguer who has proven himself. In the past two seasons, the Indians have given up the reigning AL Cy Young Winner and haven't gotten a Major League Player in either deal.

Victor Martinez is headed for Boston

Victor Martinez bobblehead night will be tomorrow in Cleveland, however Martinez won't be there for it. He will be on his way to Boston getting ready to play for his new team, the Redsox.

The Redsox pulled the trigger acquiring Martinez less than 30 minutes before the end of the MLB Non-Waiver Trade Deadline.

In getting Martinez, the Redsox will be sending pitchers Justin Masterson, Nick Hagadone, and Bryan Price to the Indians.

Tigers acquire Washburn

The Detroit Tigers made a move at the trade deadline for the third time in the past four years by acquiring left-handed starting pitcher Jarrod Washburn from the Seattle Mariners for left-handers Luke French and Mauricio Robles.

Washburn has an 8-6 recorded and owns the 3rd lowest ERA in the American League at 2.64.

In his only start in Detroit this year, he pitched seven shutout innings while only giving up two hits.

Ortiz is on "The List"

Boston Redsox slugger, David Ortiz, spoke Thursday about being one of the 104 players that tested positive for a performance-enhancing drug in 2003 during Major League Baseball's survey testing season.

Ortiz found out before the Redsox game Thursday that his name was on the list and in a post-game interview he stated that he was "shocked" and that he would find out what he tested positive for.

"One, I have already contacted the Players Association to confirm if this report is true. I have just been told that the report is true," Ortiz said. "Based on the way I have lived my life, I am surprised to learn I tested positive. Two, I will find out what I tested positive for. And, three, based on whatever I learn, I will share this information with my club and the public. You know me -- I will not hide and I will not make excuses."

Ortiz now joins Manny Ramirez on the list, both of which played key roles in the Boston Redsox 2004 championship run.
